Dodge Magnum SRT (2008)

Overview:

There is no rule that says you have to give up utility for high performance. But if there were such a rule, the all-new 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT8 would break it. “Dodge Magnum is bold, powerful, street-smart and full of life,” said Darryl Jackson, Vice President of Dodge Marketing. “With a 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI engine up front, and 71.6 square feet of cargo space in the rear, the 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT8 hauls in more ways than one. The 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT8 offers key SRT attributes in ride and handling across a dynamic range, benchmark braking, performance-inspired interior appointments and exterior styling, as well as the raw performance of SRT’s big-bore version of the HEMI engine. Performance numbers for the all-new 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT8 include a 0-60 mph time in the low five-second range and 60-0 mph braking in approximately 110 feet. Capable of covering a quarter-mile in the high 13-second range, the Dodge Magnum SRT8 can accomplish SRT’s signature performance test of 0-100-0 mph in the mid 16-second range. The new 6.1-liter SRT version of the legendary HEMI engine was inspired by the original family of HEMIs – particularly the namesake hemispherical combustion chambers that provide power and efficiency and select visual cues, including the classic orange-painted cylinder block and black valve covers.

Dodge Avenger (2008)

Overview:

Dodge last used the Avenger name to refer to a midsize Mitsubishi Galant-based coupe sold from 1995-2000. Now it's the name of the company's replacement for the now-discontinued Dodge Stratus. Like its sedan predecessor, the '08 Avenger is mechanically identical to its corporate sibling, the Chrysler Sebring. Engine choices include a 173-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder, a 189-hp 2.7-liter V6 and a 235-hp 3.5-liter V6. All return good gas mileage. The Dodge Avenger's options list offers considerable variety for this segment. All-wheel drive is available if you get the big V6, and almost any Avenger can be equipped with a rear-seat DVD entertainment system or a Harman Kardon navigation/audio system with a 20GB hard drive. A full menu of airbags is standard, and most Avengers are eligible for stability control. As solid as it looks when you run down the equipment sheet, the 2008 Dodge Avenger falls flat in a couple key areas. For a car that purports to be sporty and aggressive, the Avenger delivers a surprisingly tepid driving experience. The base four-cylinder is weak and unrefined, and only if you pony up for the 3.5-liter V6 do you get suspension tuning that feels remotely athletic. Braking performance is similarly mediocre. The other major issue in the Dodge Avenger is materials quality, which still isn't up to the standard of this class.

Performance/Specifications:

Performance
  • 2,360 cc 2.4 liters in-line 4 front engine with 88.0 mm bore, 97.0 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder ED3

Dodge Charger SRT (2006)

Overview:

The Dodge Charger, in its current incarnation, is a rear-wheel drive full-size automobile built by the DaimlerChrysler corporation for its North American Dodge brand. The Charger name is a historical one, borne by many other Dodge Charger models in the past; they have generally been performance models. Introduced in February 2005 for the 2006 model year, this new Charger shares the LX platform of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum; in fact, the interior of the Charger is almost identical to that of the Magnum. It replaced the Dodge Intrepid as Dodge's full-size sedan. This Charger is a four-door sedan, disappointing some fans of the previous two-door Chargers. The Charger SE and SXT are equipped with Chrysler's 3.5L V6. The 3.5L V6 produces 250 hp (186 kW) and 250 ft·lbf (339 N·m) of torque. The R/T version uses the 5.7L Hemi V8. This engine produces 340 hp (254 kW) and 390 ft·lbf (475 N·m) of torque. The SRT-8 model comes with the 6.1L Hemi V8. The 6.1L Hemi produces 425 hp (317 kW) and 420 ft·lbf (569 N·m) of torque.

The Mitsubishi Lancer EX

The Lancer EX is a Japanese produced car that has been in production since the early 70's. The Lancer is a stylish sedan that touts its racing genes. The Lancer is a quality car that makes it ideal for resale. A used Lancer EX is an excellent option for those of you not wanting to spend retail on a Lancer EX. With many upgrades from generation to generation a used Lancer EX is tried and tested automobile. Whether you choose a used Lancer EX with an automatic transmission or you decide that a 5 speed manual is the better fit for you, you can rest assured you will be happy with any used Lancer you decide.
Engine use should be a consideration when choosing a used Lancer EX. In terms of miles a used Lancer will perform just as well, if not better, than any comparable Nissan, Toyota, or Honda. Lancers are meant to be driven, and while they look beautiful, they perform beautiful as well. With a used Lancer EX miles should be of little concern as they are meant to be driven for plenty of miles before even the most basic components need replacing. And if your used Lancer EX is well taken care with all of the scheduled maintenance you can rest assured your getting a quality car.
Body style is as important for some people as mileage and transmission. While you may want a two door coupe, a four door will perform equally to the coupe on any day. If you do choose a used Lancer EX this may just be a matter of preference, however, the coupe was usually left the Lancers predecessor the Mitsubishi Mirage. If you are looking for a used Lancer EX station wagon you may be out of luck, the Lancer Sport-back wagon stopped being produced in the United States shortly after it was introduced. So, as far as body style goes you may be lucky enough to find a used Lancer EX station wagon, but I wouldn't be my money on it. A used Lancer EX Sedan is probably more plentiful and you would probably have better luck locating one, as well as be in a much better position to bargain for a used Lancer EX sedan, that a wagon, or coupe.

Mitsubishi releases ambiguous teaser ahead of Paris debut

Mitsubishi has announced its Paris Motor Show line-up, and along with the world debut of the Lancer Sportback and the Dakar-ready Racing Lancer, it has provided a tease of an unnamed model/concept.

The image above doesn't give us any clear indication about what Mitsubishi will be showing off, but the new face of Mitsu is present and accounted for, along with a set of toned-down headlamps that blend the automaker's slanted lenses with round lights.

We won't know anything definitive until Mitsubishi's press conference on October 2nd, but speculation ranges from the production version of the Concept cX to the new Colt. Stay tuned and check Mitsubishi's press release after the jump.
