Acura NSX review acura nsx statistics

The Acura NSX is the result of many years of research, racing experience, and technology. The supercar resulted with outstanding performance, luxury, and amazing control. There are two powertrains mounted mid-ship. The first powertrain is made totally of aluminum and is lightweight. The V6 engine has 24 valves, is 3.2liter, DOHC, and 90 degrees. The six speed manual transmission results in 290 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque. That means the Acura NSX is very powerful and can really get up and go. The second powertrain is a 3.0 liter DOBC that also has 24 valves in its V6 engine. The automatic transmission is a Sequential Sport Shift four speed and the engine can power out 252 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.

Both of the engines have the VTEC, Variable Valve Timing, and Lift Electronic Control, which is patented by Acura. They also have direct ignition, a Variable Volume Induction System, as well as Programmed Fuel Injection that is controlled by a computer. Titanium connecting rods are used in the NSX engine because they are lighter and stronger than the steel ones.

The chassis is 40 percent lighter thanks to an all aluminum body that is also very firm like a steel body would be. This light chassis really complements the powertrain. A double wishbone suspension is used that maximizes handling and minimizes weight. The braking system is outstanding as well as it uses an advanced 4-channel ABS that makes braking easier and more dependable. Control is enhances and wheel spin limited thanks to the Traction Control System.

The Acura NSX has a classy design that is shaped and molded in a way that makes the passenger feel more powerful and classier. The Acura NSX is a supercar that is truly outstanding.

Lexus IS F Review

Lexus has long competed in the luxury car market, but with some recent tough competition from both Japanese and European competitors, Lexus has increased the ante with a new series of high-performance cars aimed at a younger, enthusiast-oriented crowd.

The Lexus IS-F is the first of Lexus' LINEUP of tracks tier models. It is the last Incarnation of the Lexus IS, a rear-wheel-drive, entry-level compact sport sedan introduced in Japan a decade ago, and brought to the United States for the 2001 model year. The "F" refers to the Lexus' newly formed F-Sport division, which is expected to churn out high-performance versions of Lexus models designed to rival high-end European sport sedan and coupe. While Lexus F denotation used internally in the past for special projects, IS-F will be the first production car to carry the F marque.

There is much speculation over what the "F" stands for. Early on, it was widely circulated among enthusiasts, it stood for "fast". Lexus executives later suggested it could be an acronym for "Circle-F" (Toyota's original code name for the Lexus division), "flagship" or even "Fuji," after the racetrack in Oyama, Japan, where the car was extensively tested during the development process. F logo is also said to resemble 27r, the first corner of the famous road course.

Current Lexus IS-F

The current Lexus IS-F debuted for the 2008 model year. Although not yet confirmed by Lexus, the IS-F coupe is expected to follow sometime after the launch of the sedan.

IS-F's controversial styling definitively has properties all its own. These include a unique - but aesthetically dubious - quad exhaust design, which shows up as two staggered, vertically stacked ovals on the left and right side of the car's rear end. The Lexus IS-F also features aerodynamic improvements on the hood and front bumper, wider front Fenders and a rear spoiler, all of which gives the car a more aggressive, but anything after the market look.

IS-F's under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8 engine tuned to produce a mighty respectable 416 horsepower and 371 pound-feet of torque. It is an eight-speed automatic, controlled by paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Other features include high-performance engine oil and transmission fluid coolers and an oil pump designed for high speed oscillation. The IS-F is also equipped with a new, results-oriented version of Lexus' electronic stability control system.

Major standard features on the Lexus IS-F includes 19-inch BBS forged alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights, leather upholstery, power / heated front sports seats and a Rear-seat trunk pass-through opening. The standard 13-speaker audio system comes with a six-disc in-dash changer and an auxiliary audio jack. Options include an upgraded Mark Levinson surround-sound system, as well as a navigation system with touchscreen, voice activation, a back-up camera and Bluetooth.

In reviews, we found that the Lexus IS-F's strengths include the impressive handling and braking capabilities. The automatic transmission also works surprisingly well, as long as it is placed in manual mode when left in automatic mode, its movements are not as predictable as we would like. Although the Lexus claims a 4.6-second 0-60 time of the IS-F, our test car was 2/10ths of a second slower still impressive by anyone's standards fast.

Ultimate Gadgets.

Exotic cars and motorcycles have to be the ultimate gadgets. Many of them are brimming with gadgetry themselves, kinda like gadgets on a gadget. If you watch a Formula One Grand Prix or Moto GP race you’ll see gadgets everywhere. Not just in the pit garages but on the drivers and riders themselves. Everything from MP3 sunglasses to USB body coolers.
The Formula One and Moto GP seasons are just about to kick off for 2008 and we here at Gadget Freaks are close to wetting ourselves in excitement. So we thought we’d take a look at some exotica on 2 and 4 wheels as we gear up for 2008.
Koenigsegg is a Swedish Company that builds some of the most exclusive supercars in the world. They produced their first prototype in 1993 and produced their first production model, the CC8S in 2000.

The latest Koenigsegg to roll off the production line is the sleek and expensive CCX. With its 4.7 litre twin supercharged V8 engine and 6 speed manual gearbox it produces 806 Bhp with a respectable top speed of 245+ MPH ( 395+ KPH ) and it will set you back around US$600,000.

Whilst the Koenigsegg is fabricated primarily of carbon fibre US designer Joe Harman has chosen a slightly unorthodox material from which to build his brand of supercar. The ‘Splinter’ has a 4.6 litre V8 engine with a top speed of 245+ MPH and is made of wood! Yes that’s right! Wood! The first production models are expected to hit the road later in 2008 and the price is listed as TBA. Like if you have to ask you couldn’t afford it anyway. We are thinking of ordering one as a Gadget Freaks runabout to pick up the lunches and such. Better find a good carpenter to do our crash repairs I guess.

Now to two wheels and the crazy world of motorcycles. Not content to just have a cool ride some folk seem determined to create machines that resemble assisted suicide devices. One such creation is the ‘Y2K’. It is a US$185′000 motorcycle that is powered by a jet engine which would normally be found in a Bell Jet Ranger Helicopter. It has an estimated top speed of over 250mph ( +400 KMH ) and can accelerate to 200 MPH in under 15 seconds. The ‘Y2K’ is manufactured in the US by MTT and each bike takes 3000 man hours to build. Famous car and bike collector Jay Leno has one and he described the sensation of riding it as “Having the hand of God pushing you in the back.”

Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107, and Citroen C1 are all the same car

The other day, I was looking for small cars' information online and I was a bit surprised to find that these three cars, Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107, and Citroen C1 are all the same car actually, built in the same factory but badged up differently. Interesting? I found it on wikipedia LOL!

No wonder they look the same. Honestly, I notice the similarities because everytime I walk on the street or even if I'm in the car I always watch cars passing by and paying close attention to their designs. But since I am more keen on small cars so I always take a second glance when I spot them.

Anyway, it is a joint venture called Project B-Zero and the purpose is to share development cost. All cars are manufactured in Czech.
